Rules for the Game Master and Players

ITEMS

Many characters have specific items associated with them. A Game Master may choose to allow players to bring their own items to match the listed items on the character sheet. As an alternative, the Game Master can simply write the name of an item on an index card and have the player carry around the index card.

Whatever the case is, the Game Master should be familiar with each prop and devise a method to keep track of which props are really in the game. Most games do not require many props, and keeping track of them should be easy. If a Game Master chooses to use index cards or pieces of paper to denote a prop, that piece of paper should have the Game Master's signature or some other identifying mark on it.

I can recall a game where one character had a diamond (an index card with "diamond" and my name written on it). Another character gave out a piece of his own paper with the word "diamond" written on it, and for a good part of the game this counterfeit diamond was circulated. Finally, one player, whose goal was to obtain the diamond came up to me with the counterfeit to announce that she had completed her task. I ascertained that the diamond was a fake because it did not have my signature on it, and she had to begin her search all over again.
